Kootenay Refugee Coalition
Ascension, together with Nelson United Church and individual supporters, has worked together for over twenty years to sponsor multiple families and individuals as refugees from around the world.
Most recently, in December 2019, we completed the sponsorship of an Eritrean family of five. We are now looking to assist this family with the sponsorship of five additional family members.
Currently in 2025 Ascension Lutheran is again reaching out to bring a family from Sudan to Nelson. We anticipate their arrival this summer. We are gathering home goods to fill a living space, and we are looking to find a living space for this family of three. If you wish to help contact ascensionlutheranchurch.nelson@gmail.com.
