Ascension Lutheran Church partners with the Ministry of Transportation (MOT)
to adopt four kilometers of Highway 3A just outside of Nelson.
Three times a year, Ascension Lutheran members and friends walk this stretch and do litter removal and invasive weed spotting. We pick up up between thirty and fifty bags of litter each time we go out.
Our service is definitely appreciated by the Nelson community, as we regularly get thanks in the local paper. Many people honk their horns as they pass us while we are working.
It is a great to be part of supporting the natural beauty of our area that we have been blessed with.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the program has been suspended by MOT for 2020.
